There is an expression that the first step of any new journey is the most difficult. For E. Armistead Talman ’50, there was one beginning that overshadowed all others – starting seventh grade at St. Christopher's School.
From a young age Judy Kidd always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She saw the care and kindness her beloved aunt, an elementary school librarian, showed toward children as she inspired a passion for books and a love for reading in her students.
There is an adage about lightning never striking the same place twice, but what about luck? A change of plans brought Stuart Flanagan to St. Christopher's and another kept him at school for ten years. The result was a lifetime of friendships gained, memories made, and a scholarship to give boys a St. Christopher's education.
"Dad loved playing and listening to music. He excelled at the piano and delighted in supporting orchestras and their players. The friendships and mentors he developed through playing and supporting music were integral to the full life he led. Dad also loved exposing others to great music and would have been thrilled to bring performers to St. Christopher’s for everyone to enjoy."
